God is happy with enlarging membership

The owner of YWCA is member and the main power of YWCA movements comes from members. I believe that God is happy with enlarging YWCA membership because YWCA members could be the light and the salt of the world.

We meet many people while recruiting members. You know and have good acquaintances? If so, you must be living a jewellike life. But, recruiting members is such an obstacle race that we could face refusal and indifference while trying to make our friends to be members of YWCA. We, however, have to go forward believing in God's help. Please remember what the Bible says to us. "The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.(John 8:29)" He is always with us while we are doing what pleases him.

We have to pray for our 'objects' to make them involve in YWCA movements. It must be amazing experience. Recruiting members is kind of prayer movement.

 

Love your neighbors

Knowing your neighbors and local community is so important for enlarging membership. The proportion of buddhist population is relatively high in Busan city but Busan YWCA has been teaching Koreans to buddhist saints regardless of religion. During the one-year of Korean education course, they got to know Jesus naturally and became christians. Enlarging membership depends on how much you know and love your neighbors.

 

Honorably but with a mission

Recruiting members has to be systematic and strategic. All borad members, committee members, and staffs should set the goals and strategies together and check them regularly. Those who recruited many new members deserve to get an award. Also, we need a plan to move our objects. For example, for one corporation member, we sent a cake and hand-written card to the owner of that company and make him look like respectable boss. These all procedures of recruiting members could be a chance to foster our ability to guide people. Please be honorable when you try to recruit new member. Think this is a work for God not me. No need to force them and no need to beg them. You have to be proud of joining this movement with a mission.

 

The power of YWCA comes from membership. To enlarge the kingdom of God, let all YWCAs join this recruiting members movement.

Seoul YWCA's Special Event, The Opera "Aida"

Seoul YWCA's annual special event presented the opera, 'Aida' on April 25 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. About 2,700 members and donators of Seoul YWCA enjoyed the opera in harmony with a beautiful atmosphere of the spring night. Well known opera, Aida, combining tragic love story between the Egyptian general and Ethiopian princess, was planned to be performed to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Berdi by the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. Its familiar arias, awesome chorus and exotic stage design have been anticipated.

 

Youth Department

Opening Ceremony of Kidari School

Kidari School, hosted by the National YWCA of Korea, began on March 30th. 70 youths from Goyang, Anyangm Cheongju, Daejeon, and Gwangju YWCA including 15 young girls and boys belong to Youth Department of Seoul YWCA took part in the opening ceremony of Kidari School. All of them determined to actively engage in its activities.

 

Seongdong Youth Center

Supporting Program for Vulnerable Youths, "Running Men"

Seongdong Youth Center supported many vulnerable youths by the excursion program called 'Running Men'. This program gives various opportunities to have cultural experience to vulnerable youths. On April 13, participants of 'Running Men' watched the baseball game to learn the rules of the game and join in cheering.

 

Consumer & Environment Department

Campaign for Settlement of Value Declare System

Consumer & Environment Department led the campaign for settlement of 'Value Declare System' on April 26 in front of Woori Bank Myeongdong Branch. They asked citizens how they think about the Value Declare System and gave out promotion brochures to enhance public awareness on this system. At the same time, they visited every shops near this region and let them know how they could use and implement this system.

 

Garak Social Welfare Center

Creating New Village Culture in Jangjidong

Garak Social Welfare Center provided education for vitalizing playgrounds in Jangjidong area to villagers and university students. They are going to create new village culture through various educations.

Gangnam Youth Center

Youth Employment Training Activity

Gangnam Youth Center implemented Youth Employment Training Activity on April 6, 13, and 20. Participants could meet experts in various fields and got a real experiences with them. To continue this activity this year, Gangnam Youth Center will be grouping 5 teams depending on 5 professions: patissier, barista, singer, magician, photographer.

 

Bongcheon Social Welfare Center

Picnic for Elder Citizens

Bongcheon Social Welfare Center had a picnic with elder citizens on April 17. This was sponsored by KT&G and ran by 8 welfare centers. Participants took a coach tractor in Anseong Farmland and watched animals and traditional instrument performing.

 

Nowon Women Resources Development Center

Employment Service Day

Nowon Women Resources Development Center held the 'Employment Service Day' on April 16. They invited 50 job seekers and 3 companies recruiting staffs and some of participants got a job in this event.

 

Yeondeungpo Women Resources Development Center

Job Presentation Meeting for Culture Heritage Commentator

Yeondeungpo Women Resources Development Center implemented 'Job Presentation Meeting for Culture Heritage Commentator' for middle-aged unemployed women.
