Power of Citizen, Power of Monitoring : Monitor Seoul Metropolitan City's Policy for Women

Seoul YWCA is monitoring current Seoul Metropolitan City's policy for women to expand and promote women's participation in political decision making procedure.
Adopted staffs will be taking three-time training chances and afterwards start their activities which are composed of survey and an on-the-spot survey until October this year.
June 22 was the first training session. They felt awkward each other but their passion was so great. After orientation, 50 monitoring members were introducing themselves.
"I’ve got three daughters and I am dreaming well being society. That is why I apply this program."
"I have lived in India, at that time I was interested in policy for women and I want to learn about Korea's women policy."
The members consist of university students, female workers and migrant women etc. They’ve got various reasons to apply for this program.

Kim, Seungjoon, the leader of volunteer group for monitoring Seoul Metropolitan Council, has explained that citizen's monitoring has a big power to change society, giving real examples.
He added that monitoring activities made himself concerned about policy implementation of City Council and General Assembly and brought changes in local socirty at the same time.

Also, They’ve learned Finland’s Nation’s top integrity, No. 1 competitiveness, and rank 4 th woman’s right index were caused Gender equality education in the family and school education system in Finland.
Last month, OECD announced ranking 30th of Korea concerning ‘the harmony between work and life’ I hope The members of Seoul woman are charged with a mission of great importance and making difference.
